It seems like just yesterday that the Mayor turned 3, where has the time gone?

This past year has been downright entertaining with the Mayor and for this year’s birthday, we’re spending the day with some dog and people friends, going to a dog park and eating birthday cookies.

Speaking of birthday cookies:

The Mayor’s Simple Recipe for Birthday Dog Cookies

First, you’ll need to get out your ingredients: water, salt, dry milk, eggs, peanut butter, flour and oats.

You’ll need to get yourself a taste tester. Someone who’s really interested in the end product.

Measure out your wet and dry ingredients.

Don’t forget about quality control.

They really are quite necessary to ensure a quality cookie.

Mix until a sticky dough forms.

Roll into 2 inch balls, place on parchment and press down with damp fingers.

Bake and celebrate.

Yumm.

Cinco de Mayo dog birthday

Recipe:

  • 2 cups flour (white or whole wheat)
  • 1 cup oats
  • 1/2 cup nonfat dry milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup peanut butter, crunchy or plain
  • 1/2-3/4 cup cold water, enough to make a sticky dough

1) Preheat the oven to 300°F. Line two cookie sheets with parchment paper.

2) Mix together the flour, oats, dried milk, and salt.

3) Add the eggs and peanut butter, stirring to combine.

4) Add enough water to bring the dough together.

5) Roll the dough into 2 inch balls, flattening them on the parchment before baking.

6) Bake the cookies for about 35-40 minutes, until they are golden brown, dry and crisp all the way through.

7) Let cool right on the pans.

8) Enjoy!
